Origins and etymology

There is documentary evidence that this population is founded long before the Spanish conquest and linguistic evidence that its correct name is Talnitepec or Talnetepec. In Nahuatl language, the name of this community Columbian means “hill of the talnetes” the “wasps instead of land”, It comes from talnit, floor, floor, land wasp, and tepec, hill, mountain, locality. Colonial

In 1550 its population hovered around 250 people. In 1739 spread the ejido land title Talnique.
