Christ of Peace Monument

From 1994, it would represent a momentous event in Salvadoran history, within the framework of the Central American and Caribbean Games in the same year. This was the Monument to Peace, better known as "Christ of Peace", which is located on the outskirts of the village of San Marcos and on the road Comalapa International Airport.

This impressive sculpture was done by Ruben Martinez, who also developed the Monument to the Constitution.

The Christ of Peace symbolizes the reconciliation was achieved between the right and left movements of the country's political. Also, reads the message "Peace be with you" as a message to all the Salvadoran people.

The material in this work was based on shell casings, cast brass and bronze. It says it also seized weapons used by both sides during the conflict.

Around this square that represents the Peace Accords in El Salvador occurred, becomes a space of encounters with locals, to spend the time and take advantage of the variety of local foods sold at weekends. Even is a preferential site for the skaters who come together to share with friends.

This place is situated on the road leading to Comalapa International Airport. You can park your car in the parking allocated by the Metropolitan Police (CAM) to provide security to the site. Access is free and open to the public at all times.

The buses that circulate in the area are all having destination to the South Terminal (San Marcos area), among which may address: Route 2 and 30 (from San Salvador). Ticket cost $0.25- $0.35.
