The Minister of Tourism of El Salvador, Lic. Jose Napoleon Duarte Duran and the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Albert Ramdin, held a meeting as part of the activities scheduled during the visit of the Minister to the headquarters of the hemispheric Organization to start preparations for the XIX Inter-American Travel Congress, to be held in San Salvador 29 to the 30 September 2011.

During the meeting, Duarte Minister reiterated the commitment of El Salvador for the organization and successful completion of the event, requesting the support of the Assistant Secretary General launched the preparatory process and.

For his part, the Secretary-General stressed the importance of Congress and reiterated the support of the General Secretariat to be a priority issue of the inter-American agenda of development cooperation in the hemisphere.

Tourism Minister was also received by the Regional Group Coordinators OAS Ambassadors represented by Grenada for CARICOM; Paraguay by LAIA; Guatemala by SICA; and U.S., opportunity in which a message was sent multiplier effect on the willingness of the Government of El Salvador to raise the profile of the ministerial meeting, in close coordination with the various stakeholders of the tourism industry. The Permanent Representatives expressed receptiveness to the orientation and content that is intended to give Congress, while offered their support for the negotiations leading to its success.

Congress called "Tourism, a challenge against poverty: business competitiveness as a tourism development tool ", will frame the Ministers of Tourism of the region dialogue and to define strategies around relevant issues such as public-private partnerships to promote investment and tourism development; cultural and heritage tourism to capitalize singularities in an inclusive; corporate social responsibility within the industry and the need to promote sustainable tourism and quality.
