Calvary Church, San Miguel
The sprawling city of San Miguel shines beautiful buildings of great architectural value along the central hull.
Calvary Church is an impressive building that was founded 6 January 1921, only four blocks from the majestic cathedral.
In ancient times this place functioned as a small chapel known as "The Lord of Calvary".
Juan Antonio Duenas and Argumedo, Bishop of San Miguel, He designed the architecture which is composed of three naves and columns amazing.
It is said that other specialists influenced estimated construction begun in 1922 and concluded the temple until 1952.
Inside appreciate the dome and the main altar made of marble and stone. Also, the tabernacle is made of granite and marble. Besides beautiful imagery displayed from Spain.
Notably, the work played Dolores Dolores Solis Campos and affectionately called "The Lolas". They worked hard to help build, those applying from house to house offerings for the purpose of erecting a temple in Barrio El Calvario.
As part of its external attributes include its golden domes of Byzantine style on the outside of the church.
From the bell tower can be seen fascinating views of the city and the majestic volcano Chaparrastique. It is also the place which houses three beautiful bells dating from Dutch 1971.
This beautiful sanctuary holds its festival in honor of the "Virgen de los Dolores" each 15 September every year.
If you are visiting San Miguel and want to see this beautiful building may request permission at the parish house located a few blocks from the church.

From San Salvador:
If you drive from San Salvador to San Miguel will travel the Pan-American Highway (CA-1). You can do it from the Carretera El Litoral (beach area) or diversion either San Martín proceeding to Resume which is the same route alternative to reach the department of Usulutan and San Vicente. From San Salvador to San Miguel are 2 hours 30 minutes approximately.
