Situated in the town of Berlin, Usulutan, La Casa Mia is considered a landmark for locals, and also an important legacy of the Rivera family, owners of the house.

Built in the 30’s from stamped tin sheets, imported from Belgium, this neo-colonial style house has a large collection of historic photographs, books and antiques that give La Casa Mia its unique ambience. Visitors will see on some exterior and interior walls bullet holes and bomb fragments, remains from the armed conflict in the 1980’s. Today, the owners show them as valuable historical relics.

This site is ideal to get away from the routine and to learn more about El Salvador’s past and enjoy the slow pace of Berlin town. Guests can taste delicious local grown coffee in the bar area and try Salvadoran pastry like quesadillas.

If you are just visiting for the day, La Casa Mia has a children playground, a comfortable lounge and lush Gardens ideal for a quiet gathering.

Casa Mia offers restaurant service. Its open to the public from: 7:00 am to 8:30 pm. Monday to Sunday.

You will find a variety of dishes prepared with the family special recipes. A complete breakfast may be ordered from US$ 4.00. Lunch and dinner vary form US$ 6.00. There is gourmet coffee for sale at US$ 1.00, US$ 2.00, US$ 2.50 and up.

La Casa Mia has seven guest rooms fully equipped, each with private bath, hot water, cable TV wired and wireless Internet. The total capacity of the hostel is 35 people.

If you driving from San Salvador take the Coastal Highway (CA-2) just as if you where going to the Comalapa Airport . Follow the signs that that lead to Usulután. After passing "Puente de Oro" (Golden Bridge) look for the Usulután By-Pass which will take you to Santiago de Maria and Berlin.

Note: For your convenience, La Casa Mia Hostel and Restaurant has shuttle service (16 passengers capacity) with air condition and trained staff.

If you drive by car from San Salvador should take the Coastal Highway (CA-2) towards the airport of Comalapa. Should be guided by the signs that indicate the diversions to Usulutan. Then you pass the Golden Bridge, should seek Usulutan By-Pass which will lead the people of Santiago de Maria and then the people of Berlin.
