San Salvador National Zoo
Since 1953, the National Zoo has had a varied collection of animals, landscapes and pleasant environments. At the same time, this organization works to conserve, protect and breed local species, threatened with extinction.
Currently, the National Zoo houses over 100 species and 450 animals on its 8.5-acre area.
Among its exhibits are various types of felines, herbivores, primates, reptiles, amphibians, fish and birds, both local and exotic, all for the public to appreciate.
Also, it should be noted that this zoo has seen many animals that have been icons for generations of Salvadorans. Famous asian elephant “Manyula” it’s the most remembered. She lived 60 years on site and died on September 21, 2010.
Currently, there is a traveling museum open to the public where you will find details of the life of Manyula in El Salvador, traces of her footsteps and pictures and testimonies of people who appreciated this beloved elephant.

Among its facilities, there is a rest area for the whole family, there are children games and there is a cafeteria where you can taste various foods at affordable prices.
It should be noted that there is no food allowed into the park, in order to protect the special diets that the animals require.

Address: Final Modelo Street, San Salvador
If driving the zoo is in the vicinity of the Health Unit of San Jacinto or drive through the streets “Madrid” or “Seville”, the zoo is at the end of those streets and is properly labeled.
