“El Sin Rival” Ice Cream

| | |

As part of the traditional gastronomic options of Salvadorans, El Sin Rival” Ice Creams have established themselves as a successful company that originated in the Heroic City of Santa Ana.

It all started in 1951 when Emiliano Rivera Landaverde started selling his sorbets using a little wood street cart, a tradition characteristic of El Salvador, and some latin American countries.

The Rivera family history says that they relentlessly sought a formula that will make their ice creams 100% unique, natural and completely handmade. They came with an original recipe and they named their ice cream as “Sorbets Without Rival” since they felt nobody could compare with them in flavor.

In the sixties, Rivera had several carts that stood in different street corners in Santa Ana. Over the years his popularity grew, making Rivera teach his 19 children, mostly boys, the value of work.

During seventies and eighties his sons continued the legacy and refined the recipes as the business grew.

Later, his son Victor Manuel Rivera, upgraded the idea and opened the first showroom in downtown Santa Ana on 2003.

Today this business is well known by Salvadorans who have tasted different flavors of sorbet made from seasonal local fruits like nance, jocote, marañon, zapote and some others like three milks, fruit salad, rum and raisin and more.

El Sin Rival Sorbets has more than six showrooms distributed mainly Santa Ana and San Salvador. Their goal is to expand to the fourteen departments (provinces) in El Salvador and impress Salvadorans and foreigners with their unique flavors.
