Theater Chair (Presidents Theater)
Formerly known as the Monumental Cinema, it was inaugurated in 1979, Later renamed the "Theatre President". This building is part of the capital’s artistic infrastructure which promotes national and international events such as plays, recitals, operas, symphonies, cultural music shows, dances, conferences, religious and educational events. It is a place dedicated to the development of arts.
Teatro Presidente is part of San Benito Cultural Complex which includes the Museum of Art of El Salvador (MARS). This theater has a capacity of over 1, 420 people, with an exhibition hall and handicap access and parking.
In the main hall you will appreciate a colorful mural depicting various moments of the “Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Quiché people. Its authors were Robert Huezo and Roberto Galicia, Salvadoran artists who worked 216 pieces of plaster material with a mixture of kaolin and sand over a metal structure that late was embedded in the wall. This work of art was painted with acrylic and each piece was molded in clay and later cast in plaster.
In the outdoor garden there is a tribute to various artistic personalities who contributed to culture in El Salvador, including Claudia Lars, Agustin Barrios Mangore, Salarrué, Pancho Lara and Valero Lecha.
How to get there:
Address: The end of Avenida Revolucion, adjacent to the Museum of Art of El Salvador (MARS).
If transported by car, take the road from the International Center of Fairs and Conventions (CIFCO), up to the Monument to the Revolution. The entrance is on the right side of the monument. For your convenience, the parking is large and secured.
If using public transport take routes 30-B (from the Metrocentro Mall). Ask the driver for a stop at Plaza Italia, which is walking distance to the Monument to the Revolution and Teatro Presidente.
