El Sunzal Beach
Located on kilometer 44 along the coastal road (Coastal Highway), “world famous” El Sunzal is considered by professional surfers as of the best surf breaks in the world. It’s also good for snorkeling and shallow scuba diving.
This beach has a rocky seabed, which makes the perfect habitat for oysters, lobsters and other crustaceans that can be seen in broad daylight, especially in the summer months (November to April).
There are gourmet and basic restaurants around. As in all of La Libertad, the specialty is fresh seafood.

At El Sunzal you will find a wide range of restaurants with prices for all budgets: US$ 3.50 to $ 15.00

Visitors can camp on this beach or choose form a wide array of hotel, hostels and guesthouses.
How to get there:
El Sunzal is located on kilometer 44 along the coastal road. If travelling by car the road is well marked. We suggest parking in the parking lots (cars are not allowed on the beach). The cost is US$ 1.00 to $ 2.00
Bus routes:
Take route “102-A” from Puerto de La Libertad to El Sunzal. The fare is around US$ 0.75.
