The Beach Pimental

| | |

Within the central coastal province of La Paz there is a special place called “Playa El Pimental”; an excellent choice to relax and enjoy the slow rhythm of the ocean and sea breeze. This beach is just 10 km from the town of San Luis Talpa and 60 minutes from San Salvador.

Within this idyllic setting, you will find a virgin landscape with some private houses, far from the city noise, to provide a quiet stay enjoying the warmth of this tropical environment.

This beach is the scene of important initiatives of non-governmental organizations, : such as FUNZEL, which has programs to protect and conserve sea turtles.

On the main street you will find some turtle eggs farms where locals participate in this eco-activity that provides protection for the species and at the same time provides some income to the local fishermen. Subsequently, many people attend the release of thousands of these turtles.

Also at this beach you may visit the impressive estuary and your best option for that is “Rancho Estero y Mar”, located at the end of the road.

For peace of mind and safety, security escort is available with the National Police of Tourism (POLISH) at no cost. Simply request this service one week in advance via letter. Be sure to consult the procedure with the institution.

Where to eat:

Playa El Pimental is surrounded by dining options offering simple food at low cost. You’ll also find small shops that offer everything from soft drinks, sweets and other foods at low cost.

Where to stay:

Visitors may camp at the beach but are advised to bring their own gear. This site does not have much infrastructure, you may also negotiate your stay with the locals.

You can also stay at Rancho Estero y Mar. For more information, visit (put the link on the tab ESTERO AND SEA)

How to get there:

If driving trake the road towards Comalapa International Airport. Just before the Quality Inn Hotel there is a sign indicating the turn towards the beaches of “La Zunganera” and “El Pimental”. Take the street to the right.

Just a 200 meters from that point turn left towards San Luis Talpa town, which is clearly signed. From there, you should travel about 12 kms until you reach the beach.

If travelling by bus, take route “138-A” in the South Terminal (municipality of San Marcos) travelling from San Salvador metropolitan area towards San Luis Talpa and Comalapa. Costs US$ 1.25
