Just 30 minutes from the San Salvador, Planes de Renderos is a frequent destination for Salvadorans who want to enjoy a cool climate, green areas and spectacular views of different parts of El Salvador.

Located in the municipality of Panchimalco; it hosts several tourists attractions and green areas for walking, bicycling, canopy rides and specially to try El Salvador’s delicious national dishes like pupusas and chilate. In addition, you may attend folk dances and other activities that are scheduled mostly on weekends.

This area is home to several tourist attractions like famous “La Puerta del Diablo” (The Devils Door), Balboa Park, The Park Family (The Family Park) and the Writer’s House (former home of artist Salarrué).

How to get there:

If driving, take the road to Comalapa International Airport. After passing the cemetery “Gardens of Remembrance” there is a road sign indicating the road that takes you to Planes de Renderos. It iss just a 15-minute drive from there. You may park your car in the area you are visiting.

Buses bound to Planes de Renderos are: Route 12, 17 bus and minibus. Boarding from San Salvador at the central market. Tickets: US$ 0.20, US$ 0.25 and US$ 0.35 (weekends).

Where to eat:

This site has many options specially pupuserías and some restaurants with regional and international cuisine at very competitive prices (from US$ 0.50 to US$ 3.00 and up), Panoramic views of San Salvador are a plus, especially in the areas surrounding “El Mirador” (The Outlook).
