Punta San Juan
As part of the natural wonders found at the Bay of Jiquilisco, during your visit to Usulután, we dare you to discover the beauty found at the tip known as the Peninsula San Juan del Gozo.
Here you will wonder at the impressive volcanic chain of eastern El Salvador known as the Chinameca-Tecapa range. These volcanoes are completely forested and surrounded by the bay, which is a haven for migratory and local birds.
The main feature of San Juan del Gozo is that is not developed, there is no infrastructure, making this a perfect setting for swimming, walks, sailing, kayaking, fishing, bird watching and other activities.
If you visit Peninsula San Juan del Gozo you will enjoy an unparalleled privacy, the tranquility of its warm waters, white sands, a completely idyllic and virgin beach all for yourself. It is also great for playing beach soccer, volleyball and more.
In addition, you may camp and enjoy a night full of stars,
with the company of friends or family.
How to get there:
If you want to visit this paradise you must take a boat at
Puerto El Triunfo, or you may plan a visit with the help of tour operators like Bahía Sport Hotel that offers guided tours from US$ 150.00 for groups of 10 people or more. This can be for a day trip or an overnight camping tour.

Hello
I am an English photo journalist for a sea fishing magazine. I recently visited El Salvador for the first time to fulfill a lifelong dream to catch a roosterfish (pez gallo) from the shore. I wrote about this in a blog on our website – here:http://totalseamagazine.com/weekly-blogs/item/187-rooster-mania
The blog caused a lot of inerest, so much that I am returning with two of our readers:
http://totalseamagazine.com/weekly-blogs/item/215-back-to-el-salvador
They have also seen this video clip I shot of our friend and guide:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pYnh1W1VGk
This was at Punta San Juan, Jaquilisco, we stayed at Puerto Barillas where we’ll be staying again from 7th January – 14th January 2012.
There are more English anglers wanting to visit El Salvador to fish but with the expense of the Christmas period, they wish to visit later in 2012.
Could you give me details of what the fishing is like in July and more details about the ‘wet’ season.
If you would like to use the video on your website, please feel free to use it, I have several high resolution images too.
Yours sincerely
Roger Mortimore
