Museum of History and Culture at Dulce Nombre de Maria

Since November 29th, 2009, the town of Dulce Nombre de María has a place to guard objects of historical and cultural value that you may appreciate for just US$ 0.50 contribution.

At this museum you will find different artifacts belonging to different eras that have been donated by residents of this picturesque city.

Here you will find old carpentry tools, like a wood saw and brushes and also old mining equipment including old lamps. They also have sewing machines, manual coffee pulping machines and old irons.

Other interesting items include old pictures of San Antonio del Monte, photographs and old electronic appliances like recorders and radios.

Also on display are pre-Columbian pottery, grinding stones, water filters and even pieces of petrified trees.

How to get there

From San Salvador drive north along “Troncal del Norte Road” Road (4N) towards Apopa and Aguilares.

At the diversion known as “Amayo” turn right to Chalatenango city. Then drive to the diversion known as “El Limón” and head from there to Dulce Nombre de María.

Bus routes:

From San Salvador to Chalatenango take route 125 or Route 126, for US$ 1.00 to US$ 1.75 USD at the East Terminal (East Terminal) bound by to El Limón, Chalatenango.
