Nahuat-Pipil Community Museum
This cultural space is an effort of “Circulo Solidario de El Salvador”, a nonprofit organization that seeks to educate craftsman’s about techniques in the making of furniture and crafts using rattan, already, indigo and other materials at this community at the province of Sonsonate.
During your visit you will appreciate objects shared with the Museum of the Word and Image (MUPI) and San Salvador; containing an interesting review called “Memory of the Izalcos.” This is an ethnography work representing a late eighteenth century community. It is based on the efforts of Carl Hartmann, who studied the lifestyles of indigenous peoples in the region of Izalco.
It is a permanent exhibition, and it features a collection of ancient grinding stones and archaeological pieces found in the surrounding areas. There are samples of “petate” mats, who where woven using fabrics and different materials of the region. Some of them are indigo-dyed products.

How to get there:
Located across Nahuizalco Central Park, adjacent to the Artisan Development Center (CEDART).
Drive towards Sonsonate using the Panamerican Highway (CA-1) towards Santa Ana. At “El Poliedro” overpass take the highway towards Sonsonate.
Start your tour through the streets of Sonsonate. Drive along the Flower Route towards Apaneca, the road is well signposted.
Along the way you will find signs indicating you how to reach the destination of you interest along the Route. The journey by car takes about an hour.
If going by bus, there are several options. At the West terminal in San Salvador, you may board “special” bus 205 at US$ 1.30
(Journey takes about1 hour and 15 minutes), regular bus route 205 costs US$ 0.75 USD (journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes).
