You may taste the traditional dish of Valais, Switzerland, which is traditionally served on a small grill called “Raclette”, much like a barbecue.
At this small grill cheeses are served accompanied with cooked potatoes grilled vegetables, meats and seafood. All accompanied with sliced baguette bread. You try it for US$ 29.99 USD (served for two or three people).
You can follow the Swiss tradition by complementing this dish with a hot drink or a bottle of wine (from $ 13.00 USD).
Fun Fact
At La Raclette there is a corner dedicated to love at the “door of the locks”. Here you may hang two locks symbolically with your name and the name of your partner.
From a comical point of view if you so happen to have problems with the relation on the future, you may come back and search for your key in order to open the locks and invalidate the arrangement.
How to get there:
Drive towards Sonsonate using the Panamerican Highway (CA-1) towards Santa Ana. At “El Poliedro” overpass take the highway towards Sonsonate.
Start your tour through the streets of Sonsonate. Drive along the Flower Route towards Apaneca, the road is well signposted.
Along the way you will find signs indicating you how to reach the destination of you interest along the Route. The journey by car takes about an hour.
If going by bus, there are several options. At the West terminal in San Salvador, you may board “special” bus 205 at US$ 1.30
(Journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes), regular bus route 205 costs US$ 0.75 USD (journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes). You can also board route 249 going from Sonsonate to Ahuachapán.
