St. Michaels Church

| |

It is estimated that the original temple was built in the ninenteenth century, but there are no records to support that fact. However on top of the church’s facade there is a year showing “1824″, a clue that suggests the year in which construction work began.

The materials used were heavy masonry walls and tile roof. The design is baroque and post-colonial style.

The infrastructure suffered severe damage from the earthquakes of 2001 and the temple has remained closed for several years. A new temple was built adjacent to it, between the years 2006 to 2009. The new temple is similar to the original.
