La Bermuda 1525 Hostel and Restaurant
Located at kilometer 34.8 on the road leading to Suchitoto, La Bermuda 1525 Hostel and Restaurant is a window to the colonial past of El Salvador.
This hostel is located near the site where Bartolomé Bermudez first founded San Salvador in 1525 under the command of the Spanish conquistador Pedro de Alvarado.
With the characteristic setting of a traditional Spanish hacienda, here you will be transported to the romanticism of the sixteenth century. It features large, colorful gardens ideal for all kinds of social events.
This cozy hostel has an extensive menu at the restaurant Cava de Carlos Aguilar, there is also a striking art gallery and a museum with interesting artifacts.
House Museum
Here you will appreciate a vast exhibition of objects found on the property, there is also a family tree made with old photographs. They have an interesting collection of obsidian, swords, coins, plates, sewing machines, stones, indigenous figures and more.
They also have souvenirs produced by La Bermuda 1525 where you may enjoy nance (yellow cherry) candy made traditional style.
Museum fee is US$ 1.00 per person.
Where to eat
Menu at La Bermuda 1525 includes ancient recipes of traditional Spanish Creole cuisine at various prices.
There are also Salvadoran and international dishes and desserts, coffee, cocktails and indigenous liquors such as “chicha” and “chaparro”. There are also other liquors made with local fruits including cashew and nance.
Restaurant Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

They have six comfortable rooms decorated Spanish colonial style. They are equipped with living room, TV, private bathroom with hot water produced with solar energy. You can also choose rooms with fireplace, or a terrace with direct access to the gardens.

Distance from San Salvador: 47 kilometers.
From San Salvador you may drive along the Boulevard del Ejército Nacional (National Army Boulevard) or Pan-American Highway. Drive to San Martin and follow the signs to Suchitoto. The drive takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
