The historic town of Cojutepeque, at the province of Cuscatlán, is famous for its varied and delicious sausages that are considered a unique culinary tradition from El Salvador.

Sausages, salamis and “butifarras” are among the traditional snacks produced at Cojutepeque a city located 45 minutes from San Salvador.

Many local tourists visit this town in order to take home these delicacies prepared with great family tradition following unique recipes.

If you are visiting Cojutepeque, visit the home of Eva Alegría Dávila, located near the popular “Old Park” at this town.

Dávila is a woman who started making sausages in 1962. She says she inherited the recipes to prepare sausages from her mother, Joy Rose, who taught her to prepare their unique products. However, “Dona Evita” innovated and improved the recipes, first for the enjoyment of her relatives residing at the capital.

Over time, the sausages became popular among her acquaintances and gradually the orders started increasing. After noticing that her product had great demand, Dávila started her own business with the help of her father.

Now, with over 50 years of experience her products are known as “Delicatessen Doña Evita” and are well known locally.

Doña Evita prepares her sausages and chorizo using artisan methods and smoking techniques very characteristic of the past.

Another treat you can try is the smoked pork tenderloin with red wine dressing.

Her prices are affordable. Besides she innovated by creating dips, and gourmet jams.
