Artisan Development Center (CEDART)

Since 2009 this is a training center for over 350 local craftsmen of the province of Sonsonate.

This centre is dedicated to help locals master their techniques, which include indigo dyeing, woodworking, painting and other.

In addition, the centre serves as a meeting place that provides other services, which include Internet, and the use of facilities for trade fairs and other events.

Currently this centre functions with the help of The National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE) along with a partnership with The Ministry of Economy.

CEDART cooperates with other centers of this type like the one established at the municipality of La Palma, Chalatenango and the one in Ilobasco Cabañas.

How to get there:

Address: 3 ª West St # 3, Barrio La Trinidad, Sonsonate, just across from the Central Park in Nahuizalco.

Drive towards Sonsonate using the Panamerican Highway (CA-1) towards Santa Ana. At “El Poliedro” overpass take the highway towards Sonsonate.

Along the way you will find signs indicating you how to reach the destination of you interest along the Route. The journey by car takes about an hour.

If going by bus, there are several options. At the West terminal in San Salvador, you may board “special” bus 205 at US$ 1.30

(Journey takes about1 hour and 15 minutes), regular bus route 205 costs US$ 0.75 USD (journey takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes). You may also board bus 249 bound to Ahuachapán and Sonsonate.
